Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I sign up for classes?
A. You may register online, by phone, or in person.

Q. Do you have kids classes?
A. Our class curriculum is written for adults and children 12 and older.

Q. What is your class cancellation policy?
A. If there are no students registered for class 48 hours prior to class, we will cancel the class. We reserve the right to reschedule classes in the event of bad weather or a sick instructor.  We make an exception for Beginning Knitting and Beginning Crochet.  For those two we will run with a single student.

Q. What about bad weather?
A.  If the Ankeny Schools are closed, our shop will be closed and any classes will be rescheduled.

Q. Do I get a discount on class supplies?
A. Yes, a 10% discount is given on all supplies purchased for a class.

Q. What if I registered for class and have to cancel?
A. As long as you are able to give us 48 hours notice before the scheduled class, we are happy to issue you a store credit. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate cancellations less than 48 hours before a class is scheduled. This policy ensures teachers are compensated and other students waiting for a spot in a full class are not missing opportunities. No-shows forfeit any refund or exchange. If you can't make it at the last minute, you are welcome to send someone in your place. Please just let us know who to expect.

Q. Where can I park?
A. There is plenty of street parking in front of our store that is free.  There is also lots of street parking east of the store on Maple Street.  You may park in the lot west of the store, but we try to keep that open for the Quilt Store when we can.

Q. Can I eat my lunch or dinner at the store?
A. We are happy to have you sip a beverage from a covered cup and serve light treats to our customers on special occasions.  Otherwise, we ask that you please refrain from bringing food to the store.

Q. What is your return policy?
A. Returns for store credit or exchanges are allowed on merchandise (no refunds on books, patterns, wound yarn, or sale merchandise) purchased within 90 days when accompanied by a receipt. Store credit is available for class fees if you give us notice 48 hours prior to the first class session.

Q. How do I get to your store?
A. From I-35: Take the 1st Street Exit, Exit 92. Go West on 1st Street and travel about 1.6 miles. At the stoplight, turn LEFT on Cherry St. Travel .2 miles and turn RIGHT on 3rd Street.  Knitting Next Door is a block and a half on the right, in the Hykes Furniture Building.  (Please see Hours page for map details).
