With that in mind, here are the yardage requirements to consider: YARN: Any worsted weight (We suggest Encore, Berroco Pure Wool, or Cascade 220) *Sizes: Wee (Medium, Jolly Big) *Total for whole stocking: 175 (285 410) yds *Cuff: 40 (70, 110) yds *Leg: 70 (115, 170) yds *Heel/Toe: 20 (25, 35) yds *Foot: 45 (75, 105) yds *Homework supplies needed: *scrap yarn: 15-20 yds each of two colors highly contrasting worsted wt yarn *DPNs chosen for stocking
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT: Using US size 6 DPNs and worsted weight yarn - using main color, cast on 28 stitches. Join in the round and knit until work measures about 2 inches (about 16 rounds or so).
